Renewables & deep retrofit

Warmer home. Lower bills. A-rating in reach.

Heat pumps, solar PV and deep retrofit, designed around your actual home and installed by the Hard Hatters. Fabric-first upgrades, a higher BER and honest numbers — no fabricated promises.

Why upgrade

The case for renewables.

It's not just about being greener — though it is that. A right-sized upgrade pays you back in comfort and lower bills.

Lower running costs

Get off oil and gas. A right-sized heat pump and solar PV cut what you spend keeping the house warm and lit.

A warmer, healthier home

Fabric-first upgrades and even heat mean fewer cold spots, less damp and a more comfortable home year-round.

A better BER

Deep retrofit lifts your energy rating and puts an A-rating within reach — a home that is cheaper to run and worth more.

Lower carbon

Renewable heat and your own generation cut the carbon footprint of your home, not just the bills.

The process

Survey first. Honest numbers. Fabric-first.

01

Survey first

A heat-loss survey and a roof/usage assessment — so everything is sized to your real home, not guessed.

02

Honest plan

A clear plan and an itemised quote, with a straight read on payback and the BER uplift you can expect.

03

Upgrade & install

Any fabric upgrades first, then a clean, certified heat-pump and/or solar install.

04

Sign-off & handover

A final BER assessment, certification, and a system handed over set up to run efficiently from day one.

Straight talk

We won't sell you kit your home isn't ready for.

A heat pump or a roof full of solar only pays off in a home that holds its heat. So we work fabric-first: a proper heat-loss survey, the insulation and airtightness your home actually needs, then the renewable systems sized to suit. We'll give you a straight read on payback and the BER uplift you can expect before any work starts — an honest estimate, not an inflated promise.

Questions & savings

Your questions, answered honestly.

Yes — when it is sized correctly to your home. That is why we start with a heat-loss survey rather than a rule of thumb. A right-sized heat pump runs steadily at a lower temperature, giving you even, comfortable heat across the whole house, not the cold spots and quick blasts you get from an old boiler. We will tell you honestly if your fabric needs work first to get the best from it.
