Heat pump + solar retrofit

A deep energy upgrade — insulation, an air-source heat pump and a solar PV array — taking a draughty home to an A energy rating.

The challenge

Where it started.

A draughty, oil-heated home with high running costs and cold rooms in winter. The owners wanted off oil, lower bills and a more comfortable house — a proper deep retrofit that would take the building to an A rating.

Our approach

  1. Started with a heat-loss survey, so the fabric upgrade and heat pump were sized to the real house — not guessed.

  2. Upgraded the insulation and airtightness first, so the new heating system worked into an efficient envelope.

  3. Installed an air-source heat pump and a roof-mounted solar PV array, set up for self-consumption and grid export.

  4. Handled the certification and compliance paperwork end to end, so the upgrade was documented and signed off properly.

The result

A warmer, quieter home off fossil fuels, with a meaningfully better energy rating and lower running costs. (Exact savings depend on the home, the spec and energy prices — we give you an honest estimate before you commit.)
