A tired, long-vacant cottage brought back to life — structural repair, a new roof, rewire and replumb, and a warm modern finish.
Where it started.
A long-vacant stone cottage that had sat empty for years — a failed roof, damp walls, ancient wiring and no usable heating or plumbing. The owners loved the character but had been told by others it was 'easier to knock'. They wanted it saved, modernised and made warm to live in.
Our approach
Surveyed the structure first and made it safe — propping, structural repair and dealing with the source of the damp before anything cosmetic.
Stripped and re-roofed, upgraded the insulation, and brought the building back to weather-tight.
Carried out a full rewire and replumb, and fitted a modern, efficient heating system sized for the upgraded fabric.
Finished sympathetically — keeping the cottage's character outside while delivering a bright, modern interior.
The result
A property others had written off, brought back as a warm, dry, modern home that keeps its original character. A clear case for renovating Ireland's vacant and derelict stock rather than demolishing it.
